Born in Scotland and now based in San Francisco.  Larson grew up in Edinburgh fascinated by the paintings of the loopy Victorian artists on display in the permanent collections of Edinburgh’s many museums and art galleries.  Larson was motivated to learn traditional oil painting techniques in order to create her own quirky imaginary landscapes.  Larson now uses the Californian urban environment as inspiration for her glamorous interpretations of the ordinary.
“Many layers and many mistakes stumble forth to create these layered and ambiguous atmospheres”.
This painting “Laitude” is about our transitions – leaving, returning, hope and optimism.
