Lennell Allen is a San Francisco image-maker living on the edge of the ocean. Her art is in public collections as well as national and Bay Area group shows. Images from her “Ocean” series are displayed in the SFPUC building. Six images from the seascape series were also chosen by the San Francisco Art Commission as part of the permanent collection in the new Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Acute Care and Trauma Center.

Lennell uses an eye and a lens, capturing natural light in a digital age. She seeks that oblique image seen from the corner of an eye: abstractions that suggest an object and an atmosphere. Her images emphasize subtle colors, natural patterns, a fascination with light and reflections, the movement of water. Much of her work centers around Ocean Beach and the northern coast. Her art offers images that suggest, but leave room for interpretation.
