Julie Cohn is primarily recognized as a colorist and is praised for her powerful and energetic expression of watercolors. She was born in Burlingame and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area all of her life. Julie had extensive classical training in drawing and painting at U.C. Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts, and California College of the Arts, where she graduated with a BFA. Her paintings have been featured in many solo and group exhibits, including the Akron Museum, OH, the Redding Museum, Redding, CA, and the Elizabeth S. Fine Museum in San Francisco. In addition, her work is in many private and public collections and has been published in art books and magazines. Julie has taught watercolor for over 30 years and has published a book and color wheel collection called “Easy Steps to Great Color” and two watercolor DVDs, entitled The Dance of Watercolor: Beginners and Beyond and The Dance of Watercolor: Luminosity, Luster, Iridescence.
