Art For AIDS Submission Guidelines

Listed below are the guidelines for submitting artwork to the Alliance Health Project’s annual fundraiser Art for AIDS. To ensure you successfully submit your artwork for evaluation, please read this information carefully.

  • Art must be framed or otherwise gallery presentation-ready.
  • Submissions may not be reproductions or photographs of work originally created and sold in another medium.
  • Neither height nor width may exceed 36 inches.
  • Each piece must have a minimum retail value of $500. Art valued at or above $5000 must be independently appraised and documentation provided.
  • Art that is not selected by the jury must be picked up within 30 days after the donor is notified via email or letter. After this timeframe, the piece will be considered a donation to the organization.
  • The Art for AIDS jury reserves the right to determine the opening bid unless notified otherwise by the artist or donor.

Donors whose artwork is accepted will receive one artist’s ticket as well as one additional ticket for each piece included in the auction. After the event, donors will receive the contact information provided by the winning bidder and the selling price.

Note: Art for AIDS is a juried auction benefiting the UCSF Alliance Health Project (Tax ID Number: 94-603649).

Step One: Complete the Online Submission Form

The online submission form can be found here. Be sure to take care when filling out the “Artist Statement” as it will be the primary text describing your artwork and brand throughout our website and catalogue. If no statement is provided, we will attempt to use an excerpt from your website. Otherwise, the field will be left blank. Click here for an example.

Step Two: Submit a High Resolution Image for the Catalogue and Website

Please send a digital image of your submission to artforaids@ucsf.edu (using title, “Art For AIDS 2020 Submission, firstName lastName, submissionTitle) with the following specifications:

  • Must be in color
  • Has a high resolution (min. 300 pixels per square inch)
  • Is at least 2,500 pixels (7 inches wide)
  • Name the file using format: artistLastName.submissionTitle.2020

Step Three: Deliver the Submission to the Alliance Health Project’s Administration Office

After completing the online submission form, you will receive an email summarizing the information provided as well as a “Submission Receipt”. Attach a printed copy of the receipt to the back of the artwork and deliver to:

Delivery Times: Monday – Friday, 9:30am – 4:30pm (except the first Tuesday of the month; we are closed after 2:00pm).

The entrance to the building is inside the parking lot off of 15th Street (between Folsom and Harrison). There is a green zone (indicated by the green curb) where you can park your car for 15 minutes. Once inside, sign in with the front desk and take the elevator up to the sixth floor, suite 670.
