Loyda Narro is enamored by human anatomy and she blends both emotion and science in her work. In this drawing, the heart hangs tenuously by a thread from the hand of the subject. The topic of romantic love is explored figuratively while the heart is rendered anatomically. The composition is drawn on pure white paper that lacks even a hint of color. The artist creates the illusion of line by piercing the paper repeatedly to create negative space. The line is discontinuous formed from the small holes where the paper has been violated.
