Lennell Allen is a San Francisco image-maker living on the edge of the west coast. Her art is in public collections as well as national and Bay Area group shows. Images from her “Ocean” series are displayed in the SFPUC building, built in 2013. Four other images from the ocean series were chosen by the San Francisco Art Commission for installation in the new Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Acute Care and Trauma Center last year. The Blue Bottle image appeared in the 2016 American Art Collector.

Lennell’s images emphasize subtle colors, natural patterns, and a fascination with motion caught in two dimensions. She uses a digital camera, longer exposures, a tripod, and natural light; the signals build layers of color as the light changes. She uses processing very lightly. Whether she is capturing evening sunset seascapes or the magic light reflected and refracted in glass bottles, she seeks images that suggest an object and an atmosphere. She paints with light.
