John Kraft’s Flower Power series celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, which also happens to be the year of my birth. The flower children believed that peace and love could change the world. This belief was symbolized by the flowers they wore in their hair and on their clothing. Each piece in the series displays flowers in simple arrangements that serve as a metaphor for the movement’s pure focus on peace and love. As music also played a part in the movement, the artwork titles are inspired by songs released in 1967.
