As an artist Janet often looks to the skies and beyond for inspiration in the uncommon beauty found there. She is captivated by all things sublime and cosmic in a down-to-earth sort of way. This includes San Francisco’s iconic fog, a phenomenon of singular beauty as seen through the eyes of an East coast native.
To capture her cerebral time-space travels, she uses the technique of abstract improvisation, a contemplative approach to painterly expression born of abstract expressionism. It’s alchemy of a certain sort, working with intuition and materials that have no certain outcome. For Janet, the process is a journey into the mysteries of creativity.
