Jan Blythe is attracted to objects imbued with their own history. Jan believes these objects retain elemental details from their past and is interested in channeling this energy inherent within them. In an age of so much waste, the act of re-purposing and re-imagining found objects and discarded materials is Jan’s way of doing his part for the environment. This results in sculptures, installations, drawings, and paintings that use materials as varied as soot, ash, tar, furniture, ladders, carpets, and textiles.
