Frank Döring’s main subjects are landscape (urban as well as rural), architecture, and people. He looks at the landscape with an eye to the human activities that shape it, for better or worse. Sometimes he places more emphasis on the environment, sometimes more on the people who make it, use it, or pass through it. His compositions attempt to be visually compelling in their own right while offering pointers to, or raising questions about, practices and attitudes beyond the confines of the image.
