For Bianca Levan, finding paper-cutting was serendipitous. While wandering through Green Apple Books one afternoon in 2011, she glanced at a random shelf, and saw Paper Cutting Book: Contemporary Artists, Timeless Craft. Bianca picked up the soft-cover book and was instantly enthralled.

A few months later, in early 2012, Bianca was at her studio and decided to give paper-cutting a playful try. So she grabbed a box-cutter, a paper bag, and did just that. In that instant, her obsession with paper-cutting took root.

With paper-cutting Bianca’s ideas felt at home. The images she imagined when starting a piece came close to the final product. This was a powerful feeling for her. Through these paper-cuts, Bianca found a voice to share the moments, thoughts, and emotions that she could not otherwise articulate. And it is this type of honesty and candor that she hopes to continue finding as her journey in paper-cutting continues.
